Bagworth Open Show

The Eighth Annual Bagworth Open Show is on Saturday August 28 in the Community Centre and is organised by the Bagworth Forward Group.

Entries cost 25p per entry, children are free. There are cash prizes to win for first, second and third in each class. There are 109 classes in all, so there must be something for you.
There are 14 cups and trophies to be won. In addition there will be trophies for the best front gardens in the village, one for large and one for small. There will also be a cup for the best Park Lane allotment.
These will all be awarded on August 28. Exhibits can be entered on Friday night between 7-8 pm and on Saturday morning between 8.15 – 10.30 am. It is best to arrive early rather than late. The Hall will be closed at 11.15 am for judging. When the judges have finished, at about 2 pm, it will be open for viewing.
At 4 pm the prize giving will take place followed by an auction of the exhibits. If you have never been to such a Show it is worth a visit as you will be impressed by some of the exhibits. Please do not think that your exhibits will not be good enough. You may be in the class where there are no other exhibits, so you stand a good chance of winning!
The second part of the Show takes place outside on the playing field. From 2 pm onwards there will be stalls and side shows for everyone. There will be refreshments and lots of chances to win prizes and have fun. You can also see horses being shod and birds of prey, amongst other interesting items. The whole of the day, whether inside or out, is free. There is no admission charge.
The Town Crier will be in attendance to declare the Show open. He will be walking through the Village before this so do look out for him.
All of the profit that we make on the day is used to enhance the life of the village. Last year we raised just over £2000 and with your help, we would like to do better this year. Our two major projects at present are the Village sign and the Miners’ Memorial Garden. The profits will go towards these projects, as well as the plants that we buy throughout the village. If you would like to help in any way on the day or if you would like to rent a stall (the rent is £10 per stall or £15 with one of our gazebos) then please contact us.
